About Manira
I am a qualified primary and secondary school teacher trained in Victoria, Australia, currently based in Greenwich, with experience teaching pupils from Foundation to Year 6 in both mainstream and EAL settings. I also offer tuition for secondary school students in English and History, drawing on my academic background, including a major in History and a minor in Literature, as well as several years’ experience supporting students with essay writing, analysis and exam preparation.
I chose teaching as a career because I genuinely enjoy helping students grow in confidence and realise their potential. Whether supporting a young learner to build strong literacy foundations or guiding an older student through the complexities of essay writing, I aim to make learning meaningful, supportive and tailored to each student’s individual needs.

I take a structured, student-centred approach to tutoring, with a strong focus on building confidence and independence in learners. For primary pupils, I use phonics-based strategies and approaches such as colourful semantics to support reading, writing and spoken language development. These methods are particularly effective for pupils with EAL and those requiring targeted literacy support. In primary mathematics, I focus on developing strong number sense and secure foundational skills through engaging, hands-on activities, with lessons carefully tailored to each pupil’s current level.
For secondary students, I offer clear and structured support in English and History, with a particular emphasis on essay writing. This includes breaking down assessment criteria, supporting planning and structure, and providing detailed, constructive feedback to help students develop confident, well-organised arguments and improve their overall performance.
