About Hannah
Hannah Henson is a practicing artist, arts events organiser, art tutor and mentor, and employee at Tate Modern. She graduated from the Royal College of Art (RCA) with an MA in Contemporary Art Practice. She previously graduated with First-Class (Hons) in BA Fine Art and a Distinction in Foundation Art & Design from Swansea College of Art.
Hannah has been shortlisted for the Ingram Prize 2025 and was awarded the Joseph Herman Prize in 2023. She also achieved A grades in GCSE and A-Level Art.
Alongside her artistic practice, Hannah co-founded Sediment Collective with fellow RCA graduates. The collective organises exhibitions, performances and multidisciplinary arts events across London and Wales, creating opportunities for emerging and mid-career artists to present work in unconventional spaces. Their events bring together visual art, performance, spoken word and music.
Hannah has experience working as a Teaching Assistant and as an outreach artist, delivering creative workshops in schools with limited access to arts opportunities. She has also delivered art, craft and cookery workshops to members of the public.

Hannah’s tutoring is tailored to each student’s individual needs, interests and goals. Sessions can provide support with artistic development, research, essay writing, practical skills, university applications, portfolio development, assessment preparation and finding a direction within the arts.
Hannah primarily works with BA Fine Art students, but also has a strong understanding of GCSE and A-Level Art assessment criteria. She can help students develop their ideas, strengthen their contextual research and identify ways to develop their work in response to assessment requirements.
A key part of her approach is helping students engage meaningfully with artists and their practices. This may include researching relevant artists, collecting primary research, experimenting with different approaches and incorporating research into an evolving personal practice. Hannah encourages students to be curious and exploratory, introducing artists, exhibitions, materials and ideas that can expand and inspire their own creative development.
Hannah can also support students applying to art universities and postgraduate programmes, including applications up to master’s level. Having studied at the Royal College of Art, the world's leading postgraduate art and design institution, she understands the demands of competitive art school applications. She has experience supporting teaching staff through Fine Art University interviews for prospective students, contributing to discussions around applicants’ portfolios, conceptual development and material understanding. This experience gives her an informed perspective on preparing for the admissions process.
Whether a student needs support with the direction of their work, strengthening a portfolio, preparing for an assessment or application, or simply broadening their artistic understanding, the lessons are adapted to suit their individual goals
