About Neshea
I’ve been a teacher for over 20 years. My path to reading instruction began at home, teaching my own children to read and helping friends with their children's literacy development. Although I primarily taught social studies for many years, I discovered my true passion for literacy while tutoring students who needed extra support outside of school. I saw firsthand the powerful results of structured literacy—sometimes witnessing a year’s worth of progress in just three months. That passion drove me to deepen my expertise. In addition to holding a School Counselor Certification, I pursued a Reading Specialist Certification and obtained specialized training in both speech-to-print (Wilson Reading Dyslexia Specialist Certification) and print-to-speech methodologies (EBLI—Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction). I currently work at a High School, where I focus on helping striving readers, many of whom begin at a first-grade reading level. With systematic and explicit instruction, they consistently make remarkable progress. I would love the opportunity to speak further and learn more about your student's needs.

I’ve worked with students of many ages, levels, and backgrounds. One thing I’ve learned may surprise you: many teachers were never taught how to teach reading. This isn’t their fault. It just hasn’t always been part of teacher training.
I saw this while teaching in the classroom and tutoring students who needed extra help. When I started using clear, research-based reading instruction, things began to change. Students not only improved their reading skills, but they also gained confidence.
When I work closely with students, they can improve their reading, writing, spelling, fluency, and thinking skills. I use structured methods that are supportive and proven to work.
I love seeing the moment when reading starts to make sense and students realize they can read well. My goal is to work with families to give children the skills and support they need to become strong, confident readers.
