I am a recent masters of physics graduate achieving a first class honours and I am going to start my PGCE in physics and mathematics in September. I have previous tutoring experience teaching GCSE maths and science and A level maths.

I can offer lessons from high school level all the way up to degree level physics. I am patient with students if they cannot understand a concept or get the work correct all the time. It is important to understand where a student is at academically and what areas they need to work on. From this information I can plan lessons accordingly. The general structure of my lessons is as follows; a printout is prepared which students can follow as I walk them through the content checking they understand the content throughout with small tasks along the way. After they have gone through the content questions of varying difficulty will have been prepared on the topic they have just gone through. If necessary and the student is not grasping what needs to be done for the questions, I will go through a worked example showing them every step and what needs to be done for the questions. I will also usually set homework to see if the student actually understands what we have gone through in the lesson and to see if they actually understand it. This will then be marked at the start of the next lesson and any errors worked through with the student.
