About Victoria
As a former student, I can relate to the difficulties that can arise when we have a teacher or professor that does not take the time to know you. I was most successful when I felt that I could connect to what I was learning. As your teacher, I will never expect for you to know something that I have not taught you. If something is not working, we will adjust and fix it together.
I am a graduate from Our Lady of the Lake University, with a bachelor's degree in English, and a concentration in Professional and Technical Writing.
I am fascinated by the works of Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe, but I also love reading manga. I have written a multitude of documents such as newspaper articles, grants, proposals, and more. I even have some of my poetry published. Reading and writing, to me, is a craft. I hope to instill this in your learning experience.

Are you one of the many students that thinks reading is boring? Have you ever struggled to stay interested in the topic that you are reading about? If so, then I would love to help you!
My teaching includes different instructional modalities to engage you in learning. My style is very hands-on, student-centered, and interactive. I am interested in getting to know you, and how you learn, so that you can be successful in your education.
The lessons and materials that we cover will be differentiated for you, and your learning preferences. This is how I was able to be successful as a student.
For example, a daily lesson would include: an introduction or review of important vocabulary, and the skill of focus. This would be done through a short text, and a guided practice activity, so that you can retain the information that you are learning about. I will also share strategies about how to chunk what you are reading, and what to include in your notes. Short clips and videos may also be used to deepen your understanding of the subject matter that you are learning.
Overall, I enjoy helping others develop their love for reading, specifically English Literature, and I hope you give me the opportunity to help you!
