About Ricardo

Hi, my name is Ricardo, and I’m a rising college sophomore at DePaul University with a strong academic background in math and a passion for helping others succeed. I’ve consistently excelled in math throughout high school and college, and I’m currently pursuing a degree in a math-intensive field. I understand that every student learns differently, and I take pride in being able to explain complex topics in a clear, relatable way. As a tutor, I’m reliable, patient, and committed to helping students not only improve their grades but also build long-term confidence in their math skills. I create a positive and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging with the material. Whether you're preparing for a test, struggling with homework, or just want to strengthen your understanding, I'm here to help you reach your goals.

About Me & My Tutoring Approach

I'm a rising college sophomore with a strong passion for math and want to help others understand it clearly. I offer tutoring for middle and high school students in the Chicago area, whether you're catching up, getting ahead, or preparing for exams like the SAT or ACT.

My Teaching Style
I focus on breaking down concepts into simple, understandable steps and explaining why things work—not just how to get the answer. I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. I adjust my pace based on how the student learns best and use real-life examples or visuals when helpful.

A Typical Lesson
We start by reviewing homework or any concepts the student is struggling with. I walk through a few examples, making sure the student understands the process. Then the student works through similar problems with my guidance. We finish with a quick review and tips for independent practice or studying.

What Sets Me Apart
I’m close enough in age to remember what it’s like to learn these subjects, but I’ve studied them deeply enough to explain them clearly. I'm patient, relatable, and genuinely enjoy helping others build confidence in math. I don’t just teach formulas—I help students understand the logic behind them.

Who I Teach
I work with middle and high school students from grades 6 through 12. I tutor subjects including Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus. I also help with SAT and ACT math prep. I’m available for both in-person and online sessions in the Chicago area.
