About Dr Rob
I’m originally from Ireland and I’ve always enjoyed meeting people from different countries and cultures. I’ve lived and traveled abroad quite a lot, including time in China, Korea, Thailand, and Bulgaria, so I’m very comfortable speaking with people from different backgrounds.
Outside teaching, I’m interested in science, medicine, fitness, travel, food, sport, and learning about how people live in different parts of the world. I’ve also recently finished medical school, so I especially enjoy conversations about science, health, education, and university life.
I’m quite easy-going and I like lessons to feel natural rather than too formal. I enjoy getting to know my students and finding topics we can genuinely talk about, whether that’s travel, work, hobbies, current events, everyday life, or just having a good conversation.

I’m a patient and experienced TEFL-certified tutor with nearly five years of experience teaching English and science to students from different backgrounds and age groups. My lessons are relaxed, friendly, and practical, with a strong focus on conversation, vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, and building confidence.
I offer 30–60 minute lessons and adapt each class to the student’s level, goals, and interests. I like to use a mix of guided conversation, corrections, new vocabulary, useful expressions, discussion questions, and real-life topics so students can actively use English rather than just study grammar.
Because I’ve also taught science, I’m comfortable helping students expand their general knowledge and discuss more advanced topics in areas such as science, technology, health, travel, culture, current topics, and everyday life.
I’ve lived and traveled in several countries, including China, Korea, and Thailand, so I also enjoy talking about travel, different cultures, food, work, education, and life abroad. These topics are great for natural conversation practice and help lessons feel interesting rather than repetitive.
I’m very patient and happy to slow things down, repeat explanations, give examples, or correct mistakes as we go. My aim is to create a comfortable environment where students can speak freely, make mistakes, learn new things, and gradually become more confident and natural in English.
