About Crystal

I am an adventurous individual with a passion for overall wellness and an active lifestyle. I am concerned about the welfare of other people, so I am often described as warm, cooperative, reliable, trustworthy, and outgoing. I enjoy innovative ideas that test my creativity and activities involved with thinking outside the box. I gain great satisfaction when I do a good job with customer relations that leads to "pleasing" feedback regarding the service so that the company I work for is reflected in a positive light. My past job experiences focus on physicality; therefore, I am a "do-er" and a "go getter"!
My constant daily goal is to contribute in a constructive, meaningful, and impactful way.
I've won many accolades, including but not limited to, NJ School Nutrition Association's "School Lunch Hero" Award, General Mill's East Coast "TrayBlazer" Award, FoodManagement's Top 10 of the "55 Most Influential Food Service Heroes" Award (and Magazine Spread), and FoodService Director Magazine's "Rising Stars of 2020" Award.
I am ServSafe Manager, ServSafe Food Handler, and ServSafe Proctor Certified; as well as TIPS Certified.
A fun fact about me is that I have two Rescue Dogs, Aurora and Harper, and a pet "mini" pig named Hamlette.

I gain great satisfaction when I leave an impactful lesson(s) with students/ staff that leads to "pleasing" feedback so that the school I work for is reflected in a positive light.
My past job experiences focus on physicality; therefore, I am a "do-er" and a "go getter"!
My constant, daily goal is to contribute in a constructive, meaningful, and impactful way. I would ensure that this is done by addressing the wide range of skills and abilities in my classroom through persistent interaction with each individual- and find ways that can make the classroom feel united through these differences.
My unique perspective on life allows me to let the unexpected bring a sense of wonder, rather than overwhelming stress or anxiety, that will leave a memorable experience in learning. My hopes with a memorable experience in learning will be that it will spark a joy towards expanding any ideas of what gaining knowledge is really about. The chance to shape our pupils mind does not start nor does it end with their time in the classroom with you- and I find it extremely important that my students and staff understand that.
My lesson plans are intended to inclusive for all degree, levels, class, specificities, etc. and are therefore, tailored to ensure the information is understood but also able to be obtained in real-life scenarios.
When it comes to the way that I like to have my students, parents, staff, and important stakeholders involved in my lessons plans, it starts with an open, comfortable environment.
Next, in order to understand the most effective teaching technique, I would differentiate what methods would be necessary to use by using a range of strategies to communicate the same information in a lesson.
For example, I would start with visuals to recap the previous lesson and ensure everyone is on the same page, while asking a higher-level question to engage those students that may be "gifted learners". This would also help me to determine if certain students would work best paired with specific students.
Then, I would offer a variety of resources for students to learn more about the particular subject. This would give me a chance to provide different modalities (such as reading vs listening vs watching) so each student is able to connect to the topic. while giving me closer insight to each student's preferred/ most effective learning method.
During this lesson plan, I would use "think-alouds" such as questions to encourage a discussion on how to understand the content that they're learning as well as to demonstrate how to acquire comprehension skills.
To complete the task at hand, I may have students intentional group, which will allow me a chance to observe each student's level of comprehension.
In all, the most important factor is to look beyond formal identifications of students in order to really think about them as individuals so that everyone can connect to the material in the most beneficial way possible.
I feel that my inclusivity in and out of the classroom, as well as ensuring a welcoming environment is what sets me apart from any tutor because the more comfortable a person feels, the more receptive they are to receiving pertinent information. Additionally, I make sure to put a fun spin on learning to leave the most positive impact possible!
