About Andre
I'm Andre — a 19-year-old tutor from Cape Town with an international background (Spanish and Brazilian), about to begin medicine at the University of Edinburgh. I recently finished school with 4A* at A-Level (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Math) and 10A* at IGCSE, and along the way earned Cambridge "Outstanding Learner" awards as the top student in South Africa in several subjects — and top in the world in one. I was also my school's Dux (highest academic aggregate).
Tutoring is genuinely my favorite thing to do. There's nothing better than the moment a concept that felt impossible suddenly clicks — and because I sat these exact exams so recently, I teach to the current syllabus and mark scheme, not how things were done years ago. My style is calm, patient and methodical: I work out exactly where a student is stuck, rebuild the understanding so it makes sense, then drill exam technique until it's second nature.
My ambition is medicine, and I've spent the last few years immersed in it — shadowing surgeons and cardiologists, completing a medicine course at Imperial College London, and volunteering weekly at a palliative care unit. That same drive to help people is exactly what I bring to tutoring.
Outside academics I'm a competitive tennis player and hold a Trinity College London piano diploma, so I understand discipline, nerves and performing under pressure — useful things to share with a student facing exams. I'd love to help you reach the grades you're aiming for.

My approach is understanding-first, then exam-focused. I never just hand over methods to memorize — we build the intuition so the answers make sense and stick, then practice past papers against the mark scheme until performance is consistent under time pressure. Having just been a top-scoring candidate myself, I know exactly what examiners reward and where students throw away easy marks, and I pass that on directly.
Because I'm close in age to my students and recently sat the same exams, lessons tend to feel relaxed and relatable rather than intimidating — but always structured, honest and focused on real improvement.
