About Brooks
With 7 years of chess teaching experience, my journey in the chess world started as a competitive player, participating in local and regional tournaments. Over time, I realised my passion for teaching and began coaching learners from beginners to intermediate players. I am committed to nurturing each student's unique potential, helping them develop not only technical skills but also a love for the game. My teaching philosophy centres around active engagement and critical thinking. I use a mix of physical chess sets and digital tools to analyse games and visualise positions, making complex ideas accessible and fun. I believe that mistakes are valuable learning opportunities and encourage a growth mindset in every lesson. I emphasise strategic thinking that goes beyond the board, fostering skills useful in many areas of life.
