About Mateo
I pursued Chemical Engineering at Clemson because of a deep interest in chemistry and energy systems, but I decided to be an engineer in general because I’ve always thrived in math. In high school, I clocked in several of hours each semester, tutoring countless students in math classes I’d already taken.
More personally, I am from Charleston, South Carolina. I love going to the beach, going boating, trying new foods, and traveling above all. I am an introverted person, but I also love meeting new people, especially in a problem solving sort of environment.

I first like to understand the “why” of our time together. Is your goal doing well on the SAT, boosting your GPA, help with homework, passing a class?
Knowing my student’s goals help me to personalize our work together and to keep them motivated.
I typically ask that I see some of what my student has been supplied with in class, whether that be notes, exercises, homework assignments, and then I break it down from there. I think with math, there is no better way of learning than to just dive into exercises and understand its principles and strategies in practice.
