About Becca
I am a Special Needs Teaching Assistant who has worked in mainstream Primary Schools as well as Special Needs Schools across the country. Thanks to my roles as an SEN Teaching Assistant, I have been fortunate enough to work with children and young people aged 5 - 19 who all have varying Special Educational Needs, which include; Autism (ASD/ASC), ADD/ADHD, Global Learning Delay, Down Syndrome, Behavioural Difficulties, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, as well as those with physical difficulties.
Prior to my role as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, I worked as an Outdoor Instructor for young people with Special Needs, working across the UK.
Thanks to the career path I have taken, I have managed to gain lots of qualifications in childcare and special needs, as well as lots of experience teaching and adapting sessions to suit the needs of the individuals I work with as I know not everybody learns the same way or at the same rate!
I have experience creating and delivering Social Stories to those who struggle with or just need a little remind of how to deal with the social side of school and every day life, as well as creating personalised Educational Care Plans for the benefit of the young person, their family and school. (This comes provided with every person I tutor at no extra cost).
I have spent a lot of my working life working alongside Educational Psychologists, therefore any advice parents or carers need with regards to assisting them with the Educational or every day needs of their children is also available at all times - we will work together to get the best outcome for your child, whether that be academically or socially :)
I have a full, current Enhanced DBS.

My teaching method varies from person to person, as no two people with Special Educational Needs work the same way, that’s what makes the people I work with so great! In my work place I am the go to for making board games for the young people who learn by doing as oppose to learning by reading or being told what to do. I also enjoy creating stories for those who learn by reading, as well as your standard classroom lessons. I have created many personal Social Stories for those who need a little bit of extra assistance dealing with the very confusing day to day life “do’s and do not’s”.
I have a very relaxed teaching style as we will take things at YOUR pace, and mistakes are ok, we all make them! In fact, they’re encouraged; if you’re not making mistakes, you’re not getting better.
I offer 1:1 private tutoring for both educational lessons and social assistance, as well as group lessons for those who feel they’re ready to put to practice what they’ve learnt through our social assistance lessons (this is COMPLETELY optional, and will only be arranged by request of those I’m working with when YOU feel ready).

Becca is a fantastic tutor who is currently working with my son who has autism and social anxiety. Already we have seen a change in him with how he is socialising with people and he is slowly becoming more confident. Her lessons are always fun and Felix is so happy when he finishes his web lesson with her (even after a maths lesson). Thank you Bex! Xx
