About Robert

I am a qualified specialist dyslexia teacher and senior school leader with extensive experience supporting learners with dyslexia and literacy difficulties.

- Qualified teacher and SENDCo
- Qualified specialist teacher in dyslexia and literacy (Accredited Teacher Status from the British Dyslexia Association)
- Experienced in supporting secondary-aged learners

I work closely with learners and families to provide structured, evidence-based support tailored to individual needs.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured, evidence-based and tailored to learners with dyslexia or literacy difficulties.

Sessions may include:

- Phonics and decoding for reading accuracy
- Spelling and word-level work
- Reading fluency and comprehension
- Written expression and sentence construction
- Explicit study skills, including organisation, revision strategies and metacognition

Lessons are carefully paced, cumulative and multisensory, with regular review and overlearning. Sessions are adapted to each learner’s profile and delivered online using specialist resources, with a focus on building confidence, independence and long-term progress.

Asiya is a thoughtful, motivated learner who engages well with structured support. She shows good insight into her learning and responds positively when strategies are clearly explained. We are currently working on strengthening phonics accuracy and developing memory strategies to support confidence in reading and writing, and she is making steady progress.

I had Mr Brooks during my GCSE days and he was the best science teacher I had. He was calm, patient and very detailed but in a simple manner where anyone could understand.
