About Ava

I grew up dancing and competing at New Hampshire School of Ballet in Hooksett, New Hampshire. I joined the competition team when I was 12 and competed every year until I graduated. During my time at the studio, I danced almost every day training in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop. In addition to competition, I also danced in the Nutcracker every December. My senior year of high school I was the Snow Queen in both performances as well as part of the ensemble. Now at William and Mary, I both dance and choreograph for two dance companies: the Orchesis Modern Dance Company and the Syndicate Hip Hop Team. I have choreographed several routines for our yearly performances. For Orchesis, I choreographed a piece entitled "False Consciousness" depicted Karl Marx's Conflict Theory. For Syndicate, I have choreographed two group pieces for our showcases and have hosted a master class. In addition to choreography, I take modern classes every week and dance in my peers' dances as well. I dance Monday-Saturday when on campus. I am home for the summer and would love to continue teaching and get back into the studio, helping others grow in their dance ability and technique.

About the lesson

I have choreographed several dances at my time in college. This includes solos, duos, trios, and group dances particularly in hip hop and modern. I have even hosted master classes on campus with advanced dancers as well as beginners. I am comfortable teaching various styles and am familiar with various training levels.
