About Madeline
Hi! My name is Madeline and I am a tutor with 8 years of experience in a variety of subjects. I have my B.A. in neuropsychology from Boston College and a post-graduate degree from Northeastern University in Pre-Medical Studies, where I completed high level biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology courses with a 3.9 GPA. I am pursuing a Master of Science in PA Studies to become a direct patient care provider.
Science is challenging -- and I love challenge! Having studied natural sciences at the college and graduate level, I have tried every study method out there and found what it takes to succeed in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.
In my free time, I love to hike, ski, sail, swim -- and do just about anything else that involves getting outside. I recently hiked the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu in Peru and would love to see the other 6 of the 7 Wonders of the World one day! I love animals, especially my 2 pet bunny rabbits Chester and Ebie and my dogs, Rocky and Moby.

At the start of every session, we come up with a game plan to assess what we will cover that day. My typical session involves a lot of active recall, an evidence-based strategy for information retention that commits content to long-term memory more effectively than any other method of learning (including reading, watching a video, etc.). We pair active recall with passive review to cover material more thoroughly. I like to think of science as telling a story, so often we will create that story together in a way that is engaging and entertaining so that it is easier to remember. I aim to leave the session with material for the student to hold onto and utilize; this might be a diagram we drew together, flash cards we made or to make, practice problems with examples, etc.

Madeline is an amazing tutor, I cannot say enough good things about the work she has done with my son to improve his grade in chemistry. She is young and relatable since she is a student herself.
