About Teia
Hello! My name is Teia, and I achieved a First Class degree in History from Oxford University. I have over three years of teaching experience in English, and worked at a tutoring centre tailored to Oxbridge applications over the summer giving essay feedback. I have a strong academic background with 9s in both English Literature and Language and History at GCSE, followed by an International Baccalaureate Higher Level 7 in English Literature (with a total full score of 45). I hope that after learning with me, my students feel pride in their achievements, confidence to continue delivering top academic performance, and mastery of knowledge and skill across language and literature. I aim to instruct not simply solutions to problems, but ways to think about issues beyond structuring a sentence - ways to read the world, developing insight that will distinguish them from others as they apply for university.

FREE CONSULTATION I will ask for a piece of recent work from the student and provide a report of: 1) Essay feedback, strengths, and weaknesses 2) Recommendations and strategies for improvement 3) Potential future lesson plans developed by me TEACHING APPROACH I bring the techniques of Oxford University tutorials - lively discussions, and full encouragement of inquisitiveness! - to all my lessons for maximum engagement. I assess beyond a student's comprehension, but also HOW they think to offer the most precise revision advice. I improve exam results within four sessions, encouraging students to connect their learning to life outside of the classroom. My students are encouraged to think on their feet and push boundaries as they learn, preparing them for both real world discussion and discussion in academic contexts. LESSON STRUCTURE I offer lessons both online over zoom and in person in London. Over an hour, students will be given content to digest or recap, followed by discussion and problem solving exercises carefully adjusted for age and level. I may offer homework set over email.
