About Karlijn

I have been teaching English for the past five years in three different secondary schools, where each year I have had responsibility over 7-8 different classes, including First Years as well as Exam students.

Moreover, I have been the head of Year 4 students in Secondary Schools where I had full responsibility over the materials, tests and the curriculum. As a result, I am well versed in creating new materials suited for any language level.

I have successfully guided my exam students to pass their exams by offering specific exam training, one on one coaching or group tutoring. I have seen students flourish, gain confidence and even obtain results which were above their expectations.

I have significant teaching experience on how to improve grammar, pronunciation, writing, speaking, listening and/or reading, and am perfectly able to cater to a variety of levels.

I have also tutored students at an International School in the Netherlands, by helping them with essay writing as well as speaking. The latter was largely focused on helping them feel confident in their ability to speak English.

About the lesson

Hello, and welcome to my lessons! My name is Karlijn and I am an experienced teacher of English as a Second Language!

I strive to transfer my passion for the English language, and will always try and do so with kindness and a healthy dose of humor! :)

Most of my experience is geared towards Secondary Schooling, but I cater to all ages and language levels.

In my opinion, someone can't ever be truly 'done' with learning and improving themselves! Whether you are just beginning to learn the English language or need a few extra pointers to perfect your skills, there is always something to learn.

What will my lessons look like?
My lessons will be varied and I can offer various activities, yet the structure will depend entirely on your level and what you would like to achieve!
At the start of a lesson, I will ask you exactly which topics you want to focus on. I will then structure the lesson according to this.
Or, if you are a recurring student, we may pick up where we left off last time. For example, we may start off a lesson with a vocabulary recall, after which we move on to a speaking exercise where you may want to practice your pronunciation.
In any case, every lesson will start and end by checking in on your language needs!
