About Gospel

My objective is to advance your English, and to do so, we will work as a team. To begin, you will let me know your goals in studying English, then I'll personalize your lessons. Are you studying for school or work? Do you like to travel? Do you have English-speaking friends? Or maybe studying English is a hobby for you.
No matter what your goal, we will make the lessons fun and enjoyable. You will move closer to achieving your objectives in speaking English. My approach to teaching English is to incorporate the four basic language skills - speaking, writing, listening, and reading - into every lesson. By using these skills simultaneously, a learner can acquire both the productive and comprehensive skills to speak a language fluently. We will identify your existing strengths and fortify the other areas so that you will become a well-rounded English speaker.
If you have specific goals to meet with your English lessons, we will focus your studies accordingly.
My belief is that learning a language should be enjoyable. Gaining new skills and being able to communicate is a marvellous thing! I will try to make your classes fun and interesting. When you are comfortable, the environment is ideal for learning. One-on-one language lessons should be fun and enjoyable. I truly believe that when we are relaxed, happy and confident, learning happens in an organic, fluid way. I use humour whenever possible in my explanations and examples and I am not an intimidating person. My students and I often laugh, and I have found that when something is made funny, we remember it more easily and for a longer time. We will have fun, yet I take my role as a teacher very seriously. I will not ignore mistakes, or allow mispronunciations or poor syntax. You will learn your conjugation thoroughly, you will write correctly and succinctly and you will speak clearly, confidently, with proper emphasis, word stress on the correct syllable, and precise intonation and pronunciation.
I am a patient, gentle teacher, who is always ready to listen and help you with any difficulties and problems you may face. I realize every student is different and learns at their own pace. There is no "one size fits all" approach to learning. I adjust to the student's needs and capabilities. Creativity is important, so I use a variety of ways to incorporate new vocabulary and conversation opportunities, such as role-plays, debates, questions, games and opinion discussions. I like to use jokes on occasion, for their clever wording and to relax while learning. I am open to suggestions on the student's part, if there is anything in particular you would like to focus on. I am passionate and energetic and I will explain as many times as you need me to, in as many ways necessary to your comprehension. Even if you are shy, you will feel comfortable with me, I'm sure. :)

I give tuition online (not Skype or Google Hangout). The platform I use support screen sharing and you can have a replay of the lesson if you choose.

About the lesson

Hello! My name is Gospel and I'm from the UK. Teaching English to non-English speakers is one of my favourite subject. This is mainly because I like to share my enthusiasm about language with my students. Sign up for a lesson and we can talk about what you would like to learn in English and how you can reach your goals.
I have been teaching English for over 10 years, from children as young as 4 years old, to teenagers and adults of all ages. I have taught people from all over the world, with different accents and cultural backgrounds. I teach all levels, from beginners to advanced and I am passionate about language, communication and phonetics. I make the lessons dynamic, fun and use humour in my examples. We can discuss any topic you are interested in, we can focus on school work, your job, hobbies, or any other area where you need to be fluent in English.
Studying a new language is exciting because there are always new topics and themes to explore. Though I'm a native English speaker, I learn things every day from my students and surroundings.
My home is about 30 minutes away from London on the train, so getting there is very easy and done often. As you can imagine, there are always things going on in this international place. However, I value the online experience and how easy it is to connect with friends, students, and teachers around the world.
One of my main goals as a language teacher, is to get the student's pronunciation to be as exact as possible. I don't subscribe to the "good enough" mentality. I know you can say it properly, and I will help you with some little tricks and fun practice methods, until you sound as close to a native English person as possible. I use positive reinforcement to encourage students and build their confidence. We will work as a team to get you to attain your objectives. I have a TEFL certificate as well as BSc and MSc degrees, and I've taken graduate-level education courses. I have been teaching for over 10 years, to groups of students, in individual lessons with private students, in week-long immersions ( 8 hours per day, every day), as well as via webcam.
I have worked with many international students and supported them to achieve their goals of speaking English more fluently. Over the years, I have taught English vocabulary in various specific domains, including finance, medicine, business, internet technology, as well as English for the purpose of traveling, social situations, and as a requirement to obtain a specific job.
I have developed some tips and techniques to help with tenacious pronunciation mistakes and have a multitude of exercises, reading resources and grammar information that I can share with you. I speak clearly, at a reasonable pace, to make it easier for my students to understand me and I am very patient and encouraging.
In addition to tutoring, I also have the valuable experience of being a recent language student. As I've studied Spanish, I have gained first-hand knowledge of being a learner! Seeing both the teacher and student perspectives has broadened my point of view and given me an understanding I would not otherwise have. I'm very empathetic with my students because I know how difficult it can be to communicate in another language.

From my knowledge of personal development and my NLP coaching (using Coach Tony Robbins method) on the art of motivation, self-confidence and time management, I have helped my students to regain confidence in themselves and excel at speaking English.
