About Ethan
I'm Ethan, a senior Computer Science student at the University of Central Florida specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. I'm currently enrolled in UCF's accelerated BS-to-MS program, meaning I'm already tackling graduate-level coursework alongside my undergraduate studies. This summer, I'll be starting a Software Engineering internship at Lockheed Martin, where I'll be applying these skills in a professional setting. Beyond academics, I've built several full-stack applications and am currently developing my own neural network-based investment tool as a personal project. I also serve as President of a 400-member student organization at UCF, which has taught me a lot about communication, patience, and meeting people where they are, skills that translate directly into effective tutoring. My teaching approach is hands-on and visual. I believe programming clicks best when you can see it in action, so every lesson revolves around writing and running real code together rather than just reading slides or textbooks. A typical session starts with a quick review of where you're at and what's giving you trouble, then we dive into the concept using live coding — I'll walk through examples step by step, explaining my thought process out loud as we go. I like to draw out diagrams and visuals for trickier topics like data structures, memory management, or how SQL queries flow through a database. From there, you'll work through practice problems while I guide you, and we wrap up by recapping the key takeaways so everything sticks.
My lessons are designed for anyone from complete beginners writing their first "Hello World" to university students working through coursework in C, Java, Python, or SQL. Whether you need help understanding core concepts, debugging a tricky assignment, or preparing for an exam, I tailor each session to your specific goals and learning pace. As a senior CS student actively taking graduate-level courses and about to start an internship at a major defense contractor, I'm close enough to the learning experience to remember what's confusing while being far enough along to break it down clearly.
