About Elaheh
I am a creative at heart so my teaching style will be non-traditional and will invite you to be fluid and open-minded. My creative work experiences include: tutoring adult ESL learners, founding and hosting a performance series featuring immigrant stories and voices, non-fiction writing, and singing. I have a BA in English from NYU.
I love working with immigrants and invite them to explore their potentials through the creative writing process. I started out as an ESL student and from experience, I know the frustrations with learning a new language. Learning a new language and navigating a new culture can feel discouraging and daunting. I am here to provide a safe space for you to free yourself of doubt and limiting beliefs.
Join me in exploring your creative voice, gain confidence to write and share your unique story. I look forward to meeting you!

My teaching style is flexible to the student's needs.
In a typical lesson, we might read various writers' published works, and discuss what constitutes good writing.
We will allow time for the student to explore their own voice via creative writing prompts. My goal is for the student to find confidence, and eventually find their own unique voice.
I can guide the student to practice performing or reading their work aloud. Reading aloud is one of the best ways of editing and improving one's writing.
I believe that each person has the potential to become a good writer. It's about practice, discipline, and of course, learning to enjoy the process!
