About Sarah
I grew up passionate about reading and writing, and although I've always enjoyed peer editing in my composition classes, I didn't start properly tutoring until my junior year of high school. I spent a year working with middle school students in an after-school-help club, working with them on homework concepts and study skills, and helping them compose concise, well thought-out essays. I also took on some proofreading, both for pay and for people close to me. In my senior year, though I had less time on my hands due to college applications, I continued tutoring by reading with my neighbor's second grader once a week. I am now well adjusted to college life, and hoping to take on some students to aid them in reading and writing skills.

My style of tutoring depends on what my student needs from me! I offer my students gentle and honest constructive criticism on essays of any sort, aiding them not only in grammar concepts but also in construction, flow, and content. As it comes to literature, I help my students with reading comprehension and talk them through a text, grasping concepts such as theme, character development, conflict, and figurative language. In general, I also am able to help students develop organizational and study skills, and good habits for staying on top of work. I work with mostly fifth through ninth graders, but am willing to take older students as well.
