About Julian

Hey, I’m Julian! I’m based in Knoxville, Tennessee, and this fall, I’ll be studying Physics and Nuclear Engineering. I offer math tutoring from elementary to undergraduate levels, focusing on clear explanations, real-world applications, and problem-solving strategies to help students gain confidence. Whether you're preparing for the SAT, AMC, AP Calculus, or college-level math, I provide both in-person and online sessions tailored to your needs. Outside of academics, I love watching football, hockey, baseball, and basketball, playing pickup basketball, and going to the gym—I also played baseball and swam in high school!

About the lesson

I take an intuition-driven approach to teaching, focusing on building a strong conceptual foundation before diving into problem-solving. Instead of rote memorization, I emphasize why formulas and methods work, breaking down complex concepts into simpler, digestible parts. My lessons are interactive, using real-world applications, especially from physics and engineering, to make math more engaging. I adjust my teaching style to fit each student’s learning pace, whether they are visual, auditory, or hands-on learners.

A typical lesson starts with a quick review of past material and addressing any difficulties before introducing new concepts with step-by-step explanations and visual aids. The lesson wraps up with independent practice, where I provide feedback and reinforce key takeaways. My goal is to equip students with critical thinking skills that extend beyond the classroom.
