About Malaika
My name is Malaika, but I prefer the name Milly. I've always loved biology and chemistry, therefore I'm a first-year student at the University of Leicester studying medical microbiology.
I've worked as a teaching assistant, providing extra support to students struggling with their English and Maths (year 1 to 4).
In addition, I provided teachers with suggestions for lesson plans and occasionally served as a substitute teacher. I always made sure to create a supportive, stimulating learning atmosphere in order to enhance the experiences of students.

While I'm teaching, I try to establish a connection with my students. I inquire as to what they are finding challenging because I don't want our class to consist of them opening their books while I lecture and then leave.
According to my previous experience, students frequently told me that what they learn differs from what comes in their exams. That's what I pick up on, therefore I make sure that not only is the concept understood, but that they have exercised it so thoroughly that it stays in their mind even after class.
I believe active recall and spaced repetition is key and it is the same study technique I use for my higher-level learning at University.
