About Bret
Hi, I'm Bret. I've spent more than 10 years teaching and tutoring students at the high school and university levels, and helping students go from frustrated to confident is still my favorite part of the work.
I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in the social sciences, and I use statistics regularly in my professional work, including regression, modeling, and data analysis. That real-world experience helps me show students not just how to solve a problem, but why it matters and how the ideas are used outside the classroom.
I tutor:
Statistics: AP Statistics, college statistics, and research methods, as well as graduate-level support with regression and data analysis
Psychology: AP Psychology and college psychology courses
Academic writing: essays, research papers, and APA 7 formatting
Math: middle school and high school math
Test prep: SAT, ACT, and GRE math [add once you've taken practice tests and have scores to list]
I enjoy working with students of all backgrounds, including students with learning differences, test anxiety, or a history of struggling with a subject. [Add credentials as you earn them, e.g., "I'm a Certified Autism Specialist" or "I'm trained in the Barton Reading & Spelling System."]
Outside of tutoring, I [add one or two personal interests, e.g., hobbies, family, or what you enjoy doing]. I'm based in Pennsylvania and offer sessions both online and in person.

I believe every student can succeed with strong foundations, a safe learning environment, and support tailored to them. I start by finding and filling gaps in earlier skills so new material makes sense. My sessions are patient and judgment-free, so students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. With more than 10 years of experience teaching high school and university students, I create custom lesson plans and practice exercises for each student rather than relying on generic materials. And I stay available between sessions, so students always have support when questions come up.
