My teaching method would very depending on the age and level of the students. For younger students, I believe it is important to build their interest towards the subject and show them the correct way in learning the language. For high school students and beyond, the lessons would be focusing on gaining the skills and how to improve more efficiently.
I am a first year pre-service teacher doing an Art and Education degree. I have never taught Chinese before but I have tutored my friend's brother math when I was in high school and he had achieved an improvement in his last yearly exam. I speak Chinese as my first language and I am currently doing Chinese-English interpretation & math as two of my majors for my art degree.
