About Kerris
English was always my favourite subject in school. Not many people would say the same, right?
Well the thing I always found so cool about English, was that there are never any wrong answers. It’s all up for debate, so no matter what you say there is technically no such thing as an incorrect response in English, like there is in Maths and Science!
Don’t forget, English is a subject that gives you the power to put everything in your mind onto paper. You can get as imaginative and creative and as weird as you want!

My lessons will consist of teaching effective techniques that helped me with my exams. These include;
- Condensing & Summarising; this helps you to be able to memorise quotations, explanations of tropes & themes, etc.
- Lightning round drills! Work gets exhausting. This helps to make it (ever so slightly) more exciting, whilst also helping you memorise key content.
- Looking at model answers; this helps to get an idea of what a good response to a question should look like. I will look at the relevant exam board specification to you, with the indicative content and mark schemes to help me get a more detailed picture of what you should be including in your answers to get the top marks.
- Discussing ideas; as simple as this sounds, asking questions about a text and getting different insights will really help you to broaden your perspective of your text and come up with different and impressive answers.
My lessons will be no longer than an hour each, and are aimed at GCSE English Literature and Language students.
