About the lesson

As an experienced educator with over a decade of teaching experience, specializing in special education at the elementary level, and English, both general & special education, for the upper levels (grades 6-12), my approach as a tutor is tailored to meet the unique needs and learning styles of each student.

I firmly believe in the importance of establishing a strong rapport, and mutual respect with my students. I feel that this is fundamental for academic growth. It is essential to understand each student's individual learning style, and fostering a welcoming, empathetic, and supportive environment.

**Teaching Method and Techniques:**
My teaching method revolves around scaffolding and differentiation, ensuring that I meet students at their current level of understanding and gradually guide them towards mastery. I employ a variety of techniques, including interactive activities, visual aids, and hands-on learning experiences to engage students and make learning enjoyable.

**Typical Lesson Plan:**
A typical lesson plan begins with an assessment of the student's current proficiency level and understanding of the topic. From there, I design activities and exercises that target areas of improvement while building upon existing knowledge. Lessons are structured to include a mix of direct instruction, guided practice, and independent work, allowing students to gradually develop confidence and mastery.

**What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:**
What sets me apart as a tutor is my extensive experience in special education and inner-city public school settings. This background has equipped me with invaluable insights into effective strategies for reaching a diverse array of learners and fostering academic success. I prioritize creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to take ownership of their learning journey.

**Who the Lessons Are For:**
My tutoring services cater to students of all levels and backgrounds who are seeking to enhance their English vocabulary skills. Whether students are struggling with basic language concepts or aiming to expand their vocabulary for academic or professional purposes, I provide individualized support to meet their specific needs.

In summary, my approach as a tutor is characterized by personalized instruction, engaging teaching methods, and a deep commitment to fostering academic growth and success for all students.
