About Bhagatinder
Hi, I am Bhagat. I am a University of Toronto graduate with a BSc in Computer Science and Statistics. I have 3+ years of experience tutoring students of all ages across a variety of subjects and classroom environments. This includes:
- 6 months of one-on-one, in-person math tutoring for high school students at BrightSparkz Tutors. During this time, I learned how to effectively tailor my teaching methods to meet the individual needs of different students.
- 2 years of in-person Math and Statistics instruction at Sylvan Learning, working with students from Grades 4 to 12. During this time, I taught small groups of three students while providing individualized attention to each student.
- 1 year as a Teaching Assistant for 2 Second-year, University-level Computer Science courses (Computer Organization and Systems Programming) at the University of Toronto. During this time, I led weekly tutorials for classes of approximately 40 students.

My teaching methodology revolves around one main goal: building the student's confidence. I achieve this through constant encouragement, tailoring my teaching methods to each student's needs, and regularly assessing their understanding throughout the lesson.
A typical lesson with me involves:
- Checking in with the student at the start of the lesson to review their progress and identify any doubts or difficulties.
- Addressing the student’s doubts throughout the lesson by first explaining concepts with clear examples, then testing their understanding through independent practice questions to help build confidence.
- Providing constructive feedback and outlining next steps at the end of the lesson to help the student reach their full potential.
