About Emma
My name is Emma and I've been involved in the arts for the past 8 years. I love all kinds of chocolate, have a pet budgie called Reggie, and a wonderful fiancé, Michael. I've lived in over 20 homes including a caravan which my family and I travelled Australia in. I believe that teachers learn just as much from their students as they do from us.
My love for all things creative began as a child when I would put on plays for family and friends, make entire art galleries of horse and dog drawings (terribly mis-shapen, poor things!), or compose music with the aim of having an orchestra accompany me. Music has been a part of my life since birth, as the local music store in my city is in the family. I loved piano and took lessons throughout grade school, before going my own way with composing and learning. I started taking art more seriously at 14, and found that I had a knack for painting. When I graduated Grade 12 at fifteen, I immediately chose an art course as my next move. As time went on and I pursued visual arts, a lingering passion for acting rose to the forefront. I was riddled with fear and anxiety of performance ever since a theatre mishap when I was 11, but driven with determination to let peace be the umpire of my heart, I flew to Ireland to study acting at 19.
Today, I do all three passionately! I love what I do and want to share it with others, as there is a substantial gap in the arts in Tassie (especially the north).

Emma is an Amazing Artist. Her skill with the brush to create photo realism artworks is complimented by the heart & soul captured in each of her paintings. I have an Emma Barratt original in my living room which brings it’s warmth & wow factor to everyone who sees it! I can highly recommend Emma as an Artist & Art Tutor, as I know she will bring life to your creative process, as she does with her own art & creativity.
Ben Winwood.
Illustrator & Friend.Emma is consistently punctual, friendly, encouraging, approachable, and a great educator. Her style of teaching is fun and engaging and harnesses results in an impressively humble manner. I have regularly been inspired to adopt new techniques and principles partly thanks to Emma's subtle but effective way of teaching without it feeling like you're being taught. Any student would be lucky to be under her tutelage, I highly recommend her.
