The way I teach is to first introduce the basics of the topic and then follow it with an example to increase its relatability. Then once the basic idea has been grasped, I prefer to go into the details and the depth of the topic. Towards the end I prefer to have a both way QnA session so that doubts can also be solved as well as I can get an idea of how well they have understood the topic.
