About Brian
I am a graduate student working on a summer research project in the Department of Biomedical, Industrial & Human Factors Engineering at Wright State University. In addition to the lab sections required for the Bachelor of science program in biological sciences, I have taken the elective lab courses Molecular Cloning of Nematode and Genetic Screens using RNAi. While earning a 3.35 undergraduate GPA, I spent 2 years working as a Lab Assistant in the Freshmen Biology Labs. During my last semester I tutored 4 students individually in BIO 2110 - Molecular Biology and Genetics (please see my Reviews!). Tutoring sessions were 1 hour long and once per week during the last 5 weeks of the semester.

My approach to individual tutoring sessions began with a simple question: "What material are you having the most trouble with?" I would let the student steer the course of the session, and would usually answer some questions, explain some concepts, and clear up any misconceptions before each of use would go through the current week's homework questions and compare answers (most questions were math-based). Before the cumulative final, I would help students review questions and concepts they had missed on previous exams and homeworks.

I found Brian to be very helpful for my Molecular Biology & Genetics class. I was really struggling in this class, but Brian took the time to go over concepts in the class until he made sure that I understood the concepts. I also saw an improvement in my exam scores after I started to have him tutor me. Overall, he is a very good tutor and listens to any problems that students are having with the material in order to personalize his methods to them.
