About Izzy
I've been writing for close to 15 years, including academic essays, creative writing, research papers, research proposals, resumes, cover letters, and school application materials. I bring 5 years of tutoring experience, working with children in pre-K to college students and adults. For the past 2 years, I've worked as a writing tutor, supporting undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty members with academic, personal, and professional writing (including essays, resumes, cover letters, and applications).
I'm currently a graduate student, holding a BA in Psychology. I understand what it's like to struggle with writing, as I once did too, until I met amazing mentors who pushed me to practice until I found my own voice. That's what I aim to do for the writers I work with: help you feel confident in your abilities and find your own voice.

My counseling and psychology background greatly informs my approach to tutoring sessions. Each session starts with understanding your goals: are you polishing a personal statement, structuring a research paper, tightening a resume, or working through writer's block? Once goals are established, we will work through your draft together: I'll flag where your ideas aren't landing clearly, we'll brainstorm on structural or stylistic fixes, and I'll explain the why behind each suggestion so you build skills you can use on your own next time. I work with writers of all levels, including ESL students. Sessions are available online, and I'm happy to work around a deadline if you're in a time crunch. Writing can be stressful and overwhelming, but it feels much easier once you feel confident.
