About Izzy

I've been writing for close to 15 years, including essays, research papers, research proposals, resumes, cover letters, and graduate school application materials. For the past 2 years, I've worked as a writing tutor, supporting undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty members with academic, personal, and professional writing (including essays, resumes, cover letters, and applications. I'm currently a graduate student with a BA in Psychology, and I've also worked with writers across a wide age range, from elementary school through college seniors.
I know what it's like to struggle with writing, as I once disliked writing too, until I met amazing mentors who pushed me to practice until I found my own voice. That's what I aim to do for the writers I work with: help you feel confident in your abilities and find your own voice.

About the lesson

Each session starts with understanding your goals: are you polishing a personal statement, structuring a research paper, tightening a resume, or working through a writer's block? Once goals are established, we will work through your draft together: I'll flag where your ideas aren't landing clearly, we'll brainstorm on structural or stylistic fixes, and explain the why behind each suggestion so you build skills you can use on your own next time. I work with writers of all levels, including ESL students. Sessions are available online, and I'm happy to work around a deadline if you're in a time crunch. Writing can be stressful and overwhelming, but it feels much easier once you feel confident.
