About Joseph
Hello!
I am a qualified teacher with over 10 years experience working in education (comprehensive secondary, independent primary and private tuition). I can be on hand to tutor with both classroom, one-to-one and online tuition practise.
I am trained and qualified in Secondary English. This includes literature, language and creative writing. Given my many years of experience directing tuition centres, I am also more than confident teaching maths (all ages) and 11+ (maths, English, NVR and VR). Please see below for a full outline of my duties as a teacher:
I have been a Director with Explore Learning, one of the nation's leading private tuition companies. I have managed the learning and memberships of thousands of members at two of Explore's largest maths and English tuition centres. Not only did I support children to enjoy learning, thrive and progress each day, I also led and trained a team of 30+ tutors to deliver outstanding education to children (one-to-one, group online and in person sessions).
I am primarily an English specialist for children from Year 3 and above, including A Level. I initially taught in Secondary Schools as an English GCSE teacher (I am both PGCE and ECT qualified). Since then, I have also gained experience teaching maths to all ages, including reception kids learning to count, to A* potential GCSE mathematicians.
I am capable of running quality online and in person lessons. I take pride in making these sessions engaging and thoughtful. I run interactive lessons which pay close attention to your child's long term progress. I carefully plan each of my lessons so they are tailored to ability and learning style. On a personal level, I really enjoy getting to knowing all my learners and I know the importance of building friendly and professional relationships based on trust, care and interest.
I am also proud to say that I have acted as a DSL and safeguarding lead in learning centres. I am passionate about childrens' safety and welfare and have worked with local boroughs, agencies, parents and social workers to improve lives.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
Joe

I am trained and qualified in Secondary English. This includes literature, language and creative writing. Given my many years of experience directing tuition centres, I am also more than confident teaching maths (all ages) and 11+ (maths, English, NVR and VR). Please see below for a full outline of my duties as a teacher:
- Education delivery: Delivering outstanding education to learners (in lessons and parent progress meetings).
- Teaching and Learning: leading sessions and lessons (maths and English) to a range of learners aged 4-16.
- Using effective behaviour management, scaffolding and differentiation.
- One to one sessions: I relish the opportunity to support learners in one to one sessions. I can tailor work to ability and needs and enjoy forming relationships
- Group learning: I can engage and manage groups of learners, supporting children who learn at different speeds and who may have different learning styles
- Differentiation. I tailor to individual student needs. I know a range of techniques to apply for children with SEN, EAL and I am used to adapting to EHCP plans
- I built successful relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues. I was known for establishing positive relationships through praise and motivation.
- I worked hard to help my department and I devised short to medium schemes of learning. I contributed constructively in departmental meetings.
- I am patient and observant and I am able to identify a pupil's strengths and weaknesses.
- I am approachable but I set clear classroom rules using school behaviour policies. This allows me to create environments which allow all to progress.
- I was accountable for recording progress and keeping records accurate. I marked constructively, setting response tasks to deepen understanding.
I am also proud to say that I have acted as a DSL and safeguardinging lead for children. This regularly involved working with child safeguarding agencies, local boroughs, social workers and families.

Joe is a first-rate tutor with whom I have had the pleasure of co-tutoring many satisfied students. Diligent, organised, and attentive, any family I have referred to Joe has immediately come back with a glowing report, and they cannot wait to book more sessions. I believe his multifaceted career in the education sector sets him apart from other tutors as he can draw on all his experiences to deliver effective mentorship and lesson delivery.
I taught alongside Joe for a couple of years, he took the English department from strength to strength, showcasing a great knowledge and understanding of the content both at GCSE and A Level. He delivers his lessons in a fun and informative manner which always leaves the students eager to learn more and apply what they have learnt. A constant professional he has a style of teaching that really appeals to the younger generation of today and ensures maximum results. Highly recommended.
I worked with Mr Gibbon at Philip Morant and I can testify, without fear of contradiction, that he is an amazing teacher. Joe's enthusiasm and approach to teaching are first rate. He is an outstanding teacher and would be my first choice, if choosing a tutor for my children.
