About Xavier

Math can seem daunting at times, and with there often being so much pressure to be perfect, it can lead to feelings of discouragement and resentment about math and education, which is not what anyone wants their time at school to be.

I cannot promise to turn anyone into a perfect student, 100%-ing every test and exam, but what I can promise to do is my best, to take my students' pre-existing skill and love for learning, and to turn it into something more, and to make my students proud of the work and improvement they've done.

About the lesson

I take a very hands-on and simplistic approach to teaching math, in which I aim to help a student learn the fundamentals of whatever topic they try to achieve, before giving them questions, scaling in difficulty, to see how much they can achieve before needing further help. For me, math became far simpler once I knew the foundations to make things work and then applying them in a range of different ways, and that's what I can hope to impart upon those I teach.

Often I find where most people struggle in Math is the fear or reluctance of asking for help, in case they feel judged by their peers, and in this setting, I promise to offer no judgement to your student, guiding them through the subject and giving them the positive reinforcement when required which is so crucial to fostering a love and engagement for learning.

I excelled at an accelerated level of Mathematics all throughout my Primary and High School years, getting more A's than any other letter grade and quite often top-scoring, and as such those are the levels which I feel most confident at teaching, to help students achieve their own potential and own excellence.

My standard length of lessons are 30 minutes for Primary School students and 60 minutes for High School, however I am more than willing to discuss longer or shorter lengths with the individual/family.
