About Shareese
I have 10 plus years in teaching swimming, substitute teaching, and tutoring. My master's degree and bachelor's degree are both in engineering. I have worked as a math tutor, a math specialist, and a math interventionist. But I really love teaching math and helping people get that aaahaaa... now I get it moment.

Besides the fact I embody the website, mathisfun.com, I love math on all levels and can teach up to Algebra 1. So learning numbers and counting, I am very visual and use a lot of repetition but doing so in fun and different ways. Blocks, toys, shapes, people, colors, books, any and everything that can be used to learn, I will use because I want the concept to make sense. Everyday items help to do that. Add subtraction: same with repetition, everyday life experiences, and items to visualize the concept. Multiplying and division. I explain how numbers, counting, adding, and subtraction are the building blocks for multiplication and division. I teach, once again, with real-life examples. Algebra is when letters and variables are introduced, but I like to show how the concept itself is not new, just different. I explain this with numbers, shapes, words, and, yes, life experiences, relating all these to the concept of how a letter can be a variable. These concepts are also used for equations and inequalities to show how they are different. I also try to meet a child or person where their need is, because sometimes just understanding that one concept makes all the difference in struggling and excelling in math. And if you have someone who just wants to get ahead, we can do that. Lastly, I find personalized learning is the best, using things they like and people and situations that they know and enjoy. Anything they can relate to and can learn from.
