About Michael

I am a 23 year old Masters student at Durham Business School, I have studied Business for over 5 years now and have experience in running several successful businesses. I have experience in teaching to Undergraduate level students as well as A level students, of whom have been successful in achieving First class and Upper Second Class degrees, and A-level results ranging from A*to B. I myself have been the recipient of several academic excellence scholarships with a distinguished academic record, and have received business mentor-ship and training from accomplished entrepreneurs, including Kate Welch OBE. I therefore possess formal and informal business education as well as practical experience of real business management, and the challenges and opportunities facing start-ups.

About the lesson

I typically base my teaching on the curriculum of my students. I can teach to students of all education levels (Undergraduate, A-Level, GCSE etc) and to all levels of ability.
I create my own presentations based on the students curriculum and areas where they need the most support. I cover the core textbook information and theory that is required, and explain this in practical context with the use of real examples in the business environment (which can also be used for students to reinforce their arguments in examinations/essays).
Discussion and student engagement are of particular importance to my methodology. Rather than lecture at students, opening up a conversation on the teaching material allows for a more comprehensive understanding of issues and their interrelation, which will be reflected in student's examination/essay responses.
I possess a strong understanding of the formula required to maximise marks in GCSE, A-level and Undergraduate exams (all of which vary slightly) and make sure to emphasise how the information I teach will be conveyed in examination scenarios to ensure the highest grades as students are taught.
I also have a friendly and approachable personality that is the very polar opposite of a stern teacher, which I believe can very much disengage students.

Details

For BSc/MSc students the rate will be £12 per hour due to the extra time required to provide the relevant materials.
If the distance is below 10KM I will only charge £1 for travel
If the distance is above 25KM I will charge £3 for travel

There is a 48 hour cancellation period, if lessons are cancelled within 48 hours of the tuition there will be a £5 opportunity cost fee
