About Darrel

Darrel is a professional Actor, Writer, Director and Drama/Performing arts teacher. He holds a BA in Theatre Arts, Trinity Guildhall Grade 8 in Acting and a PGCE teaching degree.

He has taught for a number of years within Drama Schools, Colleges, Secondary Schools, community environments and centres for those physically and mentally impaired. Teaching from the ages of 3-30yrs.

His work has been staged by such theatre companies as, The Directors Club, Flux Theatre, Original Impact, Ink Or Swim, Little Pieces of Gold, Faith Drama, Gateways, Applecart Arts and his writing has appeared on such stages as, The Pleasance Theatre, Southwark Playhouse, Stratford Circus Theatre, Leicester Square Theatre, Hope Theatre, Old Red Lion Theatre, Triston Bates and many more.

INTRODUCTION TO ACTING

For those wanting to get their feet wet before taking a complete plunge. This taster will give you the core understanding of the fundamental skills any performer needs, from use of body, voice, subtext, playing an objective, embodying a character and preparing yourself to enter the professional world of acting (If that's what you desire by the end of this workshop).

INTRODUCTION TO PLAYWRITING

Have you always wanted to write, but never quite had the courage or discipline to begin? In this workshop you shall gain the confidence and knowledge to be able to finally put pen to paper.....Or fingers to keys as is more common........

    THE STANISLAVSKI SYSTEM

You shall be given the necessary toolkit to build and create a believable, three-dimensional character, following the acting methods which later led to what we now know as 'Method Acting'.

IMPROVISATION & AUDITION PREPARATION

This workshop is designed to increase your improvisational ability and confidence in the audition process. There will be various games and exercises based around building your sharpness on stage and you shall get to perform in a simulated audition scenario, which will include sight reading and a mock monologue performance.

ACTING

If you would like more of a personalised service, than private tuition is available in any of the areas highlighted in the before column. We would travel to your residence or a place which you deem to be most comfortable and work with you one-on-one.We can focus in on specific elements of your performance and areas of your acting ability which you would like to improve upon.

You will gained detailed and extensive performance feedback to a degree level and we can even help you to improve your media marketability, i.e. how to best attract an agent if you are seeking one and how to write the perfect cover letter/application to that casting director to ensure you secure an audition.



    WRITING

Private tuition can also be given in the area of creative writing. Perhaps you have written the first draft of a play/script and desperately need an objective eye to give you feedback and constructive criticism to aid you in the redrafting process. This feedback can be given face to face, over skype or via email. Or maybe you need assistance with laying the creative foundations for you to build upon.
