About Phumelele
I am a final year student studying towards a Bachelor of Education. With the course I am doing, I already have 3 years of exposure in teaching in high-resourced schools as well as under-resourced schools. Currently, I have been running a tutoring/homework club every Saturday. I tutor from Grade 4 up to Grade 7. The subjects comprise of English, Mathematics, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences and Technology.

My teaching methodology is using a learner-centred approach. The reason for it is because learners come from different cultural backgrounds and as a teacher, I cannot ignore the diversity that exists in the classroom. Therefore, my lessons need to be designed and based around the learners' cultures and personal experiences. That way, learners can relate to the content being learned and that can enhance in-depth understanding of conceptual knowledge. Learners have different learning styles, e.g., kinesthetic, auditory or visual. With that in mind, I cannot use a one-size-fits-all approach to facilitate learning. I need to use different teaching strategies to cater to each learner and support their learning needs better.
