About Ashley
I am a Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering student at UC Berkeley, planning to minor in Gender and Women's Studies. I have a strong passion in English reading and writing, both in the context of STEM and the arts. My favorite era of literature is romanticism, my favorite poet is Emily Dickinson, and my favorite book is The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.

I believe students learn best when they are motivated to learn. With reading and writing, I've found that practice is the most effective way to improve, so I would have the student read and/or write about the topics they are interested in. From there, I can give pointers on how to improve weaknesses or bring their comprehension to the next level of understanding. Depending on the student's needs I can also adjust the directions of the lessons. For instance, if the student is in an AP English class or going to take the SAT, I can teach the specific essay types or reading material that CollegeBoard expects.

Details
Younger students will be taught for a lower price (elementary = $14/hour, middle school = $16/hour, high school = $18/hour). There is no price difference between virtual tutoring and in-person, but I do not have a car so I cannot travel too far for in-person tutoring.
