My approach is very flexible and relaxed, and student-centric. Some of what I have done as a part of teaching young students is :
Created Academic curriculum and taught English language for sixth, seventh and eighth grades with a focus on increasing students’ confidence by teaching them that it’s okay to make mistakes, which resulted in higher grades at the end of the year
Restructured the curriculum to introduce grammar skills and lessons for each prose and poetry lesson sooner, and as a continuous learning process, to avoid overloading the students with new material at the end of the semester
Prepared lessons based on the students’ median grasping speed so that all students were able to keep up throughout the semester
Found ways to improvise in a classroom lacking technical equipment, creating visual props such as charts, and playing audio clips from a cellphone
Modified traditional teaching methods to meet the needs of the students- began using an “understand-based,” concept-based approach with an emphasis on original thought to help students connect original expression with the ideas that they had just learned so that their final grades reflected true understanding as opposed to memorization skills
Corrected students individually, making note of all the various kinds of mistakes that can happen to better anticipate them for future lessons
Created an atmosphere of transparency and removed “shame” for making mistakes to make learning fun
Implemented a strategy of only grading final assignments so that students were free to learn and make mistakes without the fear of their grades being affected.
