About Richard

Originally from France where he started his BJJ journey 15 years ago, Professor Richard "Somchai" สมชาย learned the art in France and Sao Paulo, Brazil with the Grand Master Flavio Behring. Prior to that, he has practiced various martial arts such as Judo, Aikido. Having some Vietnamese blood, he was always drawn to Asia where he has spent many years and has learned traditional Chinese and Thai Massage Therapy. myBJJ Brisbane offers programmes for adults, kids, and women only. Our philosophy on BJJ is to ensure that each student is taught the fundamental techniques first. Self-defence techniques are emphasised for all beginners, and competition BJJ is taught when they have attained a competent grasp of essential BJJ knowledge. Therefore, our programmes are structured to progressively advance in learning the art while a strong focus on safety in training is kept, especially for those who are starting out.
