About Leo
I am a Cambridge CELTA qualified language teacher, bilingual in Portuguese and English with working knowledge of Spanish and French. My background is in Architecture and Urbanism and I hold a postgraduate background in Computer Games Art and Design, and have worked professionally in the film and television industry as a VFX artist in London for many years. My diverse professional and cultural background gives me a broad perspective on language, communication, and learning that I bring into every lesson.

I am a Cambridge CELTA qualified English and Portuguese teacher with a background in architecture, creative industries, and visual arts. I completed my CELTA qualification in May 2026.
My approach is rooted in the belief that language has two distinct dimensions: speaking and listening, which are natural skills developed through exposure and interaction; and reading and writing, which are constructed systems that must be taught deliberately and methodically. This means I adapt my approach depending on what you need — more communicative and conversational for spoken fluency, more structured and systematic for written accuracy and literacy.
A typical lesson with me combines structured input with real practice. I use a course book as a foundation and framework, but lessons are flexible and responsive to your needs and progress. I give real-time corrections, set homework where appropriate, and provide written feedback to support your development between sessions.
What sets me apart is my cross-cultural perspective — I am Brazilian Italian, and based in London, and I have lived and worked across different professional and cultural contexts. I understand what it means to learn a language as an adult in a new country, and I bring that empathy and insight into every lesson.
My lessons are suitable for adults of all levels — from complete beginners to advanced learners looking to refine their accuracy and fluency. I teach professionals, students, and anyone who wants to develop real, functional language skills.
