About Diamond
I am a proud partner to the communities of our children. I have been working with children for roughly nine years and have been a full-time teacher for four. My purpose is to teach children the necessary skills needed to further their education in a versatile way. Reading and writing is a priority and contributes to most aspects of our lives. My goal is to make children feel safe and confident that there is someone who is willing to further their education and serve as an advocate for their future.

I specialize in phonics, reading and writing. For phonics, I teach phonemic awareness, decoding and fluency. The objective is for students to know and differentiate different sounds and how/why they make up certain words. This helps with decoding, which is the ability to translate written words into oral speech and develop fluent reading skills. Along with foundational stages, I specialize in building reading comprehension and establishing strong grade-level writing skills. To successfully build comprehension, I assess reading levels and create practice assignments aligned to a certain skill that will increase the understanding of a text. Similarly, with writing, they will be taught how to convey their obtained information from a specific level text and translate it into writing using a goal/objective plan that includes the resources to stronger writing skills.
