About Alyssa
My devotion to being a lifelong learner is what led me back to my own studies. Everything I ask of my students, I work on myself — this is a shared process, built on curiosity, creativity, and the understanding that growth has no end. I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree, expanding my toolbox as both a performer and teacher.
Some performance highlights include festivals in Austria and Italy, as well as the Staunton Music Festival and the American Liszt Society. My collaborations range from work with Grammy Award–winning baritone Kevin McMillan to soprano Penelope Shumate and pianist Alexandra Velgosha, as the The Unfolding Piano Duo. Performing deeply informs how I coach, listen, and collaborate with every student.

Whether you’re preparing for an audition, competition, or exam-or you’ve never touched a keyboard-we’ll focus on what feels purposeful, engaging, and sustainable. I often incorporate tools such as the Alexander Technique and performance-enhancement strategies to help students develop awareness, confidence, and presence, allowing music-making to more fully serve its purpose: self-expression.
Together, we’ll find the balance between focused preparation and meaningful results, keeping curiosity and joy at the forefront of the learning process.
