About Samuel
My lessons draw upon my extensive experience as an educator and researcher. Following on from my being awarded a doctorate by the University of Manchester in the UK on the basis of a subsequently-published Ph.D. thesis, I have worked as a professor and private tutor with a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds and educational levels.

I employ close reading techniques that move the student from the basic grammatical features of a text to the senses of the words involved, and from there to the significance of sentences, paragraphs, and the text considered as a whole. This approach is adaptable to any given level of educational preparedness or attainment, from pre-k to graduate level studies.
