About Michael
I am a 24-year-old student, currently on leave (coronavirus and all) from Stanford University with a focus on writing as an art, the persuasive power of words rightly arranged. I am new to teaching on SuperProf, but have been editing and helping the development of the writing of people around me since half my life ago. The closest thing I can give to credentials: even though my high school GPA was south of 3.6, my application essays to Yale convinced them to offer a seat in their exclusive Directed Studies program, bypassing the hotly-contested application process.

I read very quickly, and can edit a piece of writing in very little time. Because of this, I am willing to work through the editing process with you in person, whether in class as a group or in person. I am willing to commit quite a lot of time on work I think is interesting, and any lesson you book after the first comes with my commitment to editing and advising you on no less than 1,200 words of text.
My instructional approach is generally varied, but takes a focus on drawing your personality out and showing you how to transmit your personal tone into your writing, which gives it its soul. I specifically approach writing with the belief that almost any piece can be improved in comprehensibility, style, readability and tone. If you are uncomfortable with me reading your work aloud, whether in group or in private, let me know: I can accommodate, even if that's as simple as arranging a private meeting or letting you read it yourself.
In private appointments, especially regular meetings, I am willing to sculpt my approach to your style of learning, but whether in your first time at a group meeting or your seventeenth weekly session, I guarantee you will be a little bit better a writer every time our conversation is over.

I'm brand new to this and gauging my pricing accordingly; when we're into a piece of writing together on a second time, we can work out details. I am broadly unopposed to working flexibly with you, whether via keeping our meeting going until the creative energies have settled, having detailed edits ready for our next talk, or silent revision sessions happening in the comments of a collaborative document.
