About Jill
I offer quality instruction that parallels public and parochial school instruction in grammar, analysis of literature, writing and ACT English/Reading test prep. I teach using minilessons, which I then provided guided practice in and the ask the student to apply the techniques independently to his or her own work. We approach tutoring in a strategic manner, working more efficiently than harder. I believe in teaching children in a social constructivist way so that it make sense to them. I make use of their strengths and preferred learning style so that lessons seem engaging and relevant. It's all about the personal relationship and earning trust to build back self-confidence in the subject.

I hold a BA in Journalism and a BA in Secondary English Literature from Bradley University, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in Communications and Reading From Webster University. I am a PhD student at UMSL specializing in neurocognition. I also hold a K-12 talented and gifted endorsement on my Missouri lifetime teaching certificate in English Language Arts 7-12 and an endorsement in special reading K-12. I have over 60 hours in professional development in graduate courses beyond my graduate degree.
