About Louis
I have a passion for art forms of all kinds and have read and written since I was a teenager. In my own time I run an online magazine with my friends where we review and write essays on films, album releases, and write creative op-eds, and I am currently working on a novel as part of my studies at The University of Sheffield. My genuine enjoyment of literature, film and art shines through in my interactions and I hope my lessons are truly enjoyable for my students as well; feeling much like an excited and relaxed discussion between friends of a fascinating album, video-game or TV show. My other hobbies include gaming, running, going to the cinema with friends, and generally being a nerd.

A calm and supportive yet hands-on approach to studying art and helping students analyse themes, techniques and intentions in literature and film. I slowly and methodically read through works with my students and help them grasp the fundamentals, always going at their pace, and give extended reading/ watching suggestions to help them bolster their knowledge and ability to reference various works. I study lesson plans carefully as I want my students to achieve the grades they deserve. Sessions usually run an hour but can be flexible. I have years of experience as a cultural critic and writer for Now Then Magazine, Clash, Smoko, Unlaced and various Substack outlets including Electric Dreams. I have a first-class degree in Film Studies from Sheffield Hallam and I am currently completing a masters-level degree in Creative Writing from The University of Sheffield where I am currently working on a novella. I primarily teach GCSE and A-level students.
