About Diana

I am interested in using the online forum to assist students who want to learn more about music. While, as a University Professor, I've been doing this for some time, I'd like to work with individual students from anywhere in the world. I believe that students can learn more effectively when they are involved in the subject matter; interaction with other students is an important factor.

About the lesson

I am offering a special CLASS PIANO discount with thorough review of progress and step by step instructions, for students aged 16 upwards, any background. Students must set aside time without distractions for regular daily practice (45 minutes) plus lesson times. A variety of styles and genres of music genres covered. Please be prepared to share any music that you have worked on. Students are expected to take responsibility for their own learning, and encouraged to develop listening, improvisation and composition skills. Tasks are set for each interactive lesson which may be synchronous or asynchronous (at student's preference) using video, worksheets, and other assignments. Progress updates or feedback is given for each assignment. Lessons should not be viewed in isolation from other activities, but should be a part of the student’s world. E.g. music on television programmes, radio, local concerts etc. Students are encouraged to show their enthusiasm in other musical activities, to actively participate in listening and reading, widely, about music. To this end, a range of activities might be set for students. These include: • Learning Styles Survey • Completing self-assessment, • Planning a scheme of work • Completing various worksheets on music theory • Working on a composition • Attending a live performance • Watching and reporting on video performance • Recording a solo performance (recital) • Attending a group class • Researching a famous musician • Completing assignments involving music software that encourages musicianship, theory and keyboard skills. Dr.Diana serves you by drawing on a continued interest in music technology and over 40 years' experience: teaching piano, class piano, keyboards, recorder, singing, guitar, classroom music at all levels and choir. Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance; M.Mus and Ph.D in Music Education.

Esti has very nimble fingers and easily understood what I asked her to do. Her camera angle was set up as needed and she can already co-ordinate playing both hands together. She has a good memory and is willing to try new ideas. I'm sure she will be a pleasure to teach
